Full- Time Study for Year 10 and 11s

Outline of Provision

Student with tool belt Some young people need to study at college on a full-time basis because school education is no longer suitable. These people can study in any of our curriculum areas on a course at a suitable level. The options available are listed in the Tameside College (PDF) and Hyde Clarendon Sixth Form College (PDF) prospectuses. To make sure that young people develop their English and Maths skills during their studies, Key Skills in Literacy and Numeracy are built in to the package at an appropriate level. More able students are also offered the opportunity to sit GCSE Maths and English. Progression opportunities are generally available on to higher level courses or Apprenticeships.

Qualifications offered

Nationally recognised qualifications are available in vocational areas including National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), BTEC Introductory and First qualifications and Technical Certificates. Pupils can also gain certification in English, Maths and Key Skills.

Programme Length

The provision is full-time for year 10 and year 11 pupils. Young people usually attend for 4 or 5 days per week.

Programme Costs and Funding

Full-time attendance at the College for school aged young people is currently £3000 per annum. Additional fees may be charged for students with significant learning support needs. Funding is provided by the school (if a pupil is still on roll) or the Local Education Authority (LEA). Parents and carers who would like a young person to attend the College on a full-time basis must have funding agreed by the School or LEA.
