Some young people need to study at college on a full-time basis because school education
is no longer suitable. These people can study in any of our curriculum areas on
a course at a suitable level. The options available are listed in the
Tameside College (PDF).
To make sure that young
people develop their English and Maths skills during their studies, Functional Skills in
English and Maths are built in to the package at an appropriate level. More
able students are also offered the opportunity to sit GCSE Maths and English. Progression opportunities are generally available on to higher level courses or Apprenticeships.
Nationally recognised qualifications are available in vocational areas including
National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), BTEC Introductory and First qualifications
and Technical Certificates. Pupils can also gain certification in English and Maths
