The National Student Survey shows that students on Higher Education Programmes at Tameside College are very happy with their courses, with feedback about the quality of teaching higher than universities and many other colleges.
Tameside College has a strong reputation in the field of work-related learning. Our College mission is:
Tameside College will transform lives by offering first class education and training in order to improve employability and generate economic prosperity.
Believe & Achieve
Our mission expresses our focus on the way in which education can enhance your quality of life from being able to secure a job you enjoy using the qualifications you have gained, to planning and developing your professional pathway step by step.
The College is partnering with Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Chester to bring you Higher Education programmes of high quality that respond to your professional needs and the demands of the labour market.
The University of Chester Work Based and Integrative Studies framework, from which many of our programmes are derived, has been commended by the Higher Education Funding Council for England and has been recommended as a model that all universities should adopt. Tameside College is one of the first colleges in the UK which delivers this innovative, work-based approach to higher education, making higher education accessible to those in the workplace.
What this means to you as a student is that you can study while in work, about what you do in work and using your work experiences to gain higher education credits and awards. We are also developing innovative ways of delivering your programmes – on-line, in work, workshops, one to one, seminars, tutorials – whatever suits your preferred way of learning and your lifestyle.
Enrolling for a higher education where you live has lots of advantages:
- Tameside College offers higher education at a lower cost to most other universities
- You can earn as you learn by working while you are studying
- You can save money by staying at home rather than incurring the costs of having to move and pay for expensive student accommodation
- You can take between 4 and 7 years to complete an honours degree and so you can
manage your studies to work around work and family responsibilities.
