You’ll find that the College has a completely
different atmosphere to school. We’ll always
treat you like an adult, which includes
offering a wide range of activities and giving
you as much help and support as you need to
achieve your goals.
General Help and Advice
Whether they’re big or small, sometimes
we all face problems and issues. If that’s
the case, Student Services will help you
deal with them, including advice on financial
matters, accommodation, health and
welfare.
Careers Advice and Help with Your Next Step
Qualified advisers will provide you with all the guidance and support you need,
whether your next step is university, college or employment.
The personal touch
All students are given a personal tutor, who
will first of all make sure you are on the right
course and then help you settle in. During
your time at college they will also review your
progress, help you fulfil your potential and
assist with choosing your next move.

- Organise the loan of specialist equipment
and software
- Organise specialist support from the
Dyslexia Tutor, Behaviour Mentor or Deaf
Support team
- Arrange exam help such as additional time,
a reader or a scribe
You can tell us about your ALS needs on
the application form, discuss them at your
interview or bring them up at any point
throughout the year.
Functional Skills
Functional Skills English and Maths are
the skills we all need to confidently carry
out everyday life tasks. As part of your
course we will help you to develop these
essential skills to make it easier to move into
employment or progress to the next level in
education. We do this through both taught
sessions that help you improve your Maths
and English, as well as embedded learning
within your main course.
Whatever course you choose, you’ll develop
the range of skills needed to achieve your
future goals.
Preparing for life after college
The help we offer extends to more than
just your time here with us. Our qualified

the advice, guidance and support you need,
whether your next step is university, college
or employment.
