Sports Department's annual awards

On Thursday 26th June, Hyde Clarendon and Tameside College Sports students gathered for the Sports Department annual awards, where a total of nine awards given. Alison Williams attended to present a special award.

The nine awards were;
First and second team Football Player of the Year which were won by Mitchell Andrew and Robert Atkinson.
The Male Learner of the Year for Hyde Clarendon was Callum Holmes, and the same award for Tameside College was given to Dylan Coady.
The Female Learner of the Year for Hyde Clarendon was Megan Parati, and Tameside College Female Learner of the Year was Jody Cunningham.
Hyde Clarendon Enrichment Student of the Year went to Adam Auty and Tyrone Chipcase won Enrichment Student of the Year for Tameside College.

The final and special award was the Alex Williams Believe & Achieve Award for Outstanding Contribution, which was presented to Hayley Simpson by Alison Williams (Alex’s mum).

Student Activity Leader, Luke Podmore commented; “I think it’s fantastic that we get to showcase what these students achieve each year and reward them for their outstanding achievements. Some of the students contributed so much outside of their course to the Enrichment Programme and competitive sports, as well as performing very well academically.

Karen Hunter, Head of Leisure and Services Industries across both sites said; “The annual sports presentation is a proud moment for both staff and students and enables them to celebrate the enormity of the extra-curricular activities they take part in together with the academic learner of the year awards. The College and the Sports Department is about more than just the course evident with providing opportunities across 20 different enrichment sports.

“Students have shown commitment to over 400 hours of enrichment over the year, performed for the College in regional and national championships, in addition to obtaining outstanding course results. This in itself is a great achievement. Well done to all our learners.”
