Dovestones Racetrack

Tameside College's Dovestone Centre students designed and created their own racetrack in the Motor Vehicle department; as part of their NCFE certificate in Personal Development.

The course offers students with complex learning difficulties the opportunity to access various vocational areas in the College including Motor Vehicle. The students initially thought up the idea about creating a racetrack and worked as a team to decide on how the track should look and be designed. Over the Christmas period, the classroom floor was painted as a surprise for the students, who used their remote control cars to race one another, on their custom designed track.

Motor Vehicle tutor Paul Wilkinson said, "The experience helped students work as a team, to solve problems and when using the track it helped them with the motor skills, whilst having great fun!"
