National Apprenticeship Week

Tameside College will be holding an Apprenticeship Week on the 23rd February to the 27th February, between 11:30am – 1:30pm each day, to emphasise the importance of apprenticeships.

The week long event will highlight the benefits of Apprenticeships to both employers and learners while a number of departments will be holding demonstrations, showcasing students work and achievements.

One student who has benefitted from completing a Hair and Beauty Apprenticeship is Lauren Harrop, she worked at Powercutz in Dukinfield while studying at Tameside College and she now works there on a full time basis. She recently received the Apprentice of the Year Award from the College, congratulating her for her success in the hair and beauty industry.

Lauren completed her Level 3 in Hairdressing course this year and was awarded a Certificate of Achievement by her tutor Kath McKay at her work placement salon Powercutz in Dukinfield, in recognition of her high standard of work and commitment.

Lauren said, “I really enjoyed the course and enjoy working as a hairdresser, the college has given me loads of help and support to achieve my Apprenticeship and I would definitely advise any school leaver to complete an Apprenticeship scheme with Tameside College.”
