Young people from Salford attended a special catering event at Tameside College, as part of the ‘Kidzwidreamz Young Person’s Project’, giving them the opportunity to cook healthy foods and learn more about the catering industry.

The programme, which engages 7 to 15 year olds from Ordsall, Salford, enables them to participate in various activities giving them a chance to use their skills and talents in areas including football, pool and dance. They are also currently working on a short animation film regarding issues affecting the environment.

At Tameside College, the young people worked with catering tutor Ray Jones, in the professional kitchens preparing delicious, healthy meals for members of the local community and their families.

The ‘Kidzwidreamz’ programme is run by New Barracks Tenant Cooperative Management and is funded by the Awards for All Lottery. The scheme has proved to be extremely successful and culminated with the creation of a DVD highlighting the young students’ achievements.

In September, Kidzwidreamz will help cater at the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra at Salford Lads Club.
