Pink Week took off in a grand style at Tameside College’s Elysium Centre this year. The aim was to increase awareness of Breast Cancer and raise money for Cancer Research UK. As part of the national initiative, Tameside College contributes to breast cancer awareness month and this year was no exception. Hair and Beauty students, staff and clients participated in raffles, quizzes, file and polishes, fancy dress, nail art and back massages for donations. Students and tutors made a huge effort to beat previous fundraising events.
Lizzie Jones, Cancer Research UK’s Area Volunteer Manager attended an event at Tameside College and thoroughly enjoyed the efforts that staff and students had gone to. Lizzie said: “We are thrilled that the Elysium Centre at Tameside College has been so supportive of Cancer Research UK's Join the Fight for Women’s Survival Campaign! Everyone has got involved in a fun yet informative way, to raise funds and awareness of breast cancer. Cancer Research UK’s work underpins today’s treatments for women with breast cancer. Our doctors, nurses and scientists are playing a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the disease.”
Lizzie returned to the college to present staff and students at The Elysium Centre with a large cheque for the amount of £1025.29, which will be framed in the Hair and Beauty reception.
