Skills North West Exhibition

Two chefs on a Professional Cookery Level 2 Apprenticeship course attended an event called the Skills North West Exhibition on behalf of Tameside College. The stand was organised by the National Apprenticeship Service with along with several other providers.

Nathan Higgins and Connor Lea both represented the college superbly and were a great reflection on their employers in the catering industry. Nathan works at Relish in Gorton when he’s not studying at college and Connor works at Toto Ristorante in Bury.
The students, who study one day per week at college, were encouraged to display practical skills rather than just hand out leaflets. They prepared meringue nests with strawberries and high school pupils attempted piping cream and decorating the meringues. Year 9, 10 and 11 pupils attended from schools throughout the North West.
