Canon Johnson visit Tameside College

Tameside College recently received a visit from a class of Year 6 pupils from Canon Johnson Primary School in Ashton to gain some ideas about future careers. The pupils were taken on a tour of the college and shown the work areas in action, including the art & design department, brickwork, joinery, the college restaurant, the training kitchens, hair and beauty salons and the paint spraying booth. The afternoon finished with the pupils enjoying the recreational facilities in the college Chill Out Zone.

This is the first time the college has collaborated with a primary school in this way and the visit proved to be both beneficial and successful. The visit will be followed up by an industry day at the school at the end of April.

Jane Norburn, Deputy Head Teacher at Canon Johnson was very grateful for the opportunity given to the children, and she commented on the fantastic experience offered to the Year 6 class. The pupils all went back to school really enlightened.
