Emmaus in Mossley Celebrates Success

President of Emmaus UK, Terry Waite CBE proudly presented certificates at the Emmaus community in Mossley last week. Staff from Tameside College and learners at Emmaus celebrated their success in completing National Vocational Qualifications in Warehouse & Storage, Carry & Deliver Goods, Food Processing, Cleaning Support Services and Customer Services.  A further 16 companions received City and Guilds certificates in Adult Numeracy and Adult Literacy under the Skills for Life programme.

The training was organised through the Employer Engagement department in Tameside College and funded through the Train to Gain scheme. It is recognised that the partnership between the two organisations will continue to develop with companions, staff and the college benefiting from the experience.

Emmaus Mossley is a registered charity providing a home, companionship and worthwhile work for up to 24 previously homeless people in 19 communities throughout Britain.

Key Account Manager Jacqui Anderson said, β€œIt is a fantastic result for the companions at Emmaus to have achieved a nationally recognised qualification and in some instances achieved more than one.  A number of Assessors have commented that the companions have been a pleasure to teach because they have been so keen and enthusiastic, which I also feel reflects the quality of delivery by our staff.”
