Presenting your new President...

After the first cross-college Student Union elections, Vicky Heywood has been voted in to be the new President of Tameside College & Hyde Clarendon’s Student Union. Vicky is currently studying at Hyde Clarendon for her A levels, which include Government & Politics, Law, English and Sociology.

Vicky is also no stranger to elections, as she is a Parliamentary Assistant in her spare time for Jonathan Reynolds and was involved with his recent campaign which saw him become the MP for Stalybridge and Hyde.

Since winning the election Vicky has commented, “I would like to thank everyone for taking the time to vote and for their support. I will strive to do my best to represent the students’ views and opinions and continue promoting the learner voice.”

Student Support Officer Shayer Hussain, said “With the recent general election we wanted to make sure that the students were able recognise the importance of the electoral process, so we tried to replicate the election day with polling stations, ballot boxes and voting slips. For the majority of students, this was their first experience in a democratic procedure and highlighted to them how their voice is very important.”
