Colours of Life

Level 2 Catering students recently organised a charity event at Ashton Town Hall with the assistance of Level 1 students and first year BTEC students. The ‘Colours of Life’ event was arranged in aid of Willow Wood Hospice and consisted of a gourmet buffet with entertainment including the Northern Belly Dancing Troop, Part of the Circus Hilarious and also Rachel, a Pianist who played throughout the meal.

80 tickets were sold for the event and a number of prizes were donated, including a holiday to Bulgaria, paintings, a crockery set and many more.

Over £1000 was raised for Willow Wood Hospice at the event from ticket sales, the raffle and the auction and generous donations from the guests.

Food and Beverage Lecturer, John Holden said “The students were very determined to succeed. They have excelled themselves and shown how determination and a lot of hard work benefits such good causes like Willow Wood Hospice”

The event was attended by John Fellowes from Willow Wood Hospice, Peter Ryder from Tameside College and Simon Walker from Tameside Radio.
