Fashion Star 2010

And the winner is..................................... Natalie Bailey.

Dedicated follower of Fashion - Natalie was chosen from 5 other finalists and named Fashion Star of 2010. She collected a cash prize of £250. Her garment along with the other finalists was displayed in Arcades Shopping Centre from Saturday 16th October to Monday 15th November. The public casted their votes for their favourite design and Natalie’s red dress was the outright winner. The design was based on shapes taken from research undertaken at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Natalie commented “It has been a great opportunity to take part in this competition. The experience of designing and making garments has helped me to develop my creative skills. Being the winner of the Fashion Star 2010 will be great to put onto my CV and in my portfolio of work when applying to University”.

Photographer student Giuseppina Ardolino, who is studying on the National Diploma Photography course, received a £100 cash prize for photographing Natalie’s winning design.

Giuseppina said “It was a great surprise to win this competition and I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to be part of this fashion shoot. I enjoyed working with the model and the garment, which helped me create an image I was really happy with”.

One lucky voter, who voted for Natalie’s dress also won a £250 voucher to use at the Arcade Shopping Centre. The competition was run by Basilica Marketing Ltd in conjunction with Ashton Arcades.
