Tameside College have raised over £500 for Comic Relief.

During Red Nose Day there were many departments running their own activities and getting into the spirit by doing something funny for money.

The Jaffa cake challenge comprised of contestants eating as many Jaffa cakes as they could in one minute to beat the previous record. Davis Strong from the Sports department equalled the record of 6 Jaffa cakes in a minute and was named the winner.

Other events held throughout the day included the Bush Tucker Trial, with Laura Cerven coming out on top. David Gordon won the Pin the Nose on the Principal Challenge along with name the teddy bear and Victoria Mather won the match the picture challenge.

The Student Services Team, Students Records Team and the Travel Shop Team managed to raise a combined total of £226. BTEC First Sports Students also managed to raise £363 which included the 1 mile fun run around Stamford Park. Level 4 Sports Massage students contributed with a Sports Massage Clinic in the evening. Cakes were donated by the Catering department as well as vouchers from the Hair & Beauty department.

There were drinks and snacks available for sale throughout the day with all proceeds going to Comic Relief.

The event was a great success and the whole college turned out to support for Red Nose Day. All the money raised was a massive achievement for everyone concerned.
