Tameside College students on the E2E Foundation Learning Programme got the opportunity to get a real taste of industry interview experience thanks to partnership links with Barr Soft Drinks in Moston. Barr had previously hosted a work placement for Michael McCord, one of the current learners and therefore were more than happy to give learners first-hand experience of interviews in the work place. This formed an assessment for part of a BTEC Workskills unit.

Sue Howarth, Senior Telesales Manager EDSD agreed to put the learners through their paces in a mock job interview to test out their techniques at the Moston premises.

The learners, Francesca Beeston and Harry Lardner found the experience really valuable, with both coming through the assessment with flying colours. Francesca felt "This interview has helped me to boost my confidence for when I am applying for jobs in the future". Harry said "This was helpful because the feedback gave me tips on things I need to improve on." Sue from Barr said: "It was a pleasure holding the interviews with Francesca and Harry, they are a credit to the centre".

Tutor Sally Courtney was over the moon about the success of the venture. "This is the first time we have approached a business to conduct our mock interviews. Sue and the staff team at Barr have done a brilliant job for us. It gave the learners a realistic sense of what to expect in a real job interview situation."
