Blackpool Fundraiser

Tameside College staff take on a Manchester to Blackpool charity bike ride and manage to raise over £2000.

The Tameside College Team consisted of 26 members, who met up early one morning at the Old Trafford football ground in Manchester. The group then followed a pre-planned route which took them through Broughton, Wigan/Leigh, Haigh Hall, Westhoughton, Preston, Eccleston, Lytham St Annes and finally reaching the final destination, Blackpool.

The team consisting of individual and group sponsors, all managed to complete the gruelling challenge which worked out to them covering over a 63 mile distance. It was a great achievement for a great cause and all the money raised has been donated to The Christie Charity.

The donation was presented to Christie Hospital representative, Mr Chris Byrom, by Deputy Principal, Jenny Worsdale. During his visit Mr Byrom was a given a tour of the college followed by a meal in the onsite restaurant, Reflections.

Food and Beverage Lecturer, John Holden, said “It was a pleasure to have Mr Byrom come along to the college and even more of a pleasure to hand over the donation for a very worthy cause. It was hard work and a lot of training went into the events but it was all worthwhile in the end.”
