Create Your Own Style Wed, 08 August 2012 With the ultimate goal of working for herself as a stylist, Donna Perks has certainly shown the entrepreneurial spirit needed so far and is well on her way to success. While studying the Level 2 Intermediate Hairdressing qualification before moving on to the Level 3 Advanced Hairdressing Apprenticeship course, Donna attended extra sessions at college but also took the step of arranging her own clients, which allowed her to complete the course’s practical elements in a shorter period of time. She is planning to build on these first steps by developing her client base and becoming a successful stylist, with her ultimate ambition being to become her own boss. “I have really enjoyed my time at Tameside College,” Donna said. “Meeting new people, classmates and tutors has been great and I’ve always felt really supported by both the college and my employer, which helps a lot. The best thing for me though has been learning all the hairdressing techniques and then having the chance to actually put them into practice in the workplace, as this is what gives you the confidence to know you can go on and make a success of it as a career.”
