Students Organise an Amazing Event

Students from the BTEC subsidiary and Extended Diploma in Hospitality set up this year’s spectacular Food Studies awards night which took place at the Village Hotel, Ashton-under-Lyne. The event was held to celebrate the success of students who excelled within the year. The students worked for six months organising every aspect of this amazing night, from invitations and ticket sales to decoration and sponsorships.

The evening started off with a drinks reception followed by performances from the college staff choir and excerpts from the Performing Arts students’ production of Grease. The guests were then treated to a 3 course meal before the main event of the awards took place. The awards this year were hosted by Celebrity Chef and restaurateur Simon Rimmer who gave a motivational speech before presenting the awards to the winners.

The students made £116 for Macmillan Cancer charity by raffling a weekend stay at the Ramblers Hotel with £30 to spend on food and drink kindly donated by the Dorbiere Group. The event was an amazing success with all guests dancing the night away until the small hours.
