Tutors go the extra mile

Tameside College tutors help mature student Simon Davies build a new future and new career.

Simon was previously a lorry driver, but after a sudden accident that left him unable to continue in this line of work he was encouraged by his family to pursue a college course.
Simon attended a Tameside College Open Evening where he met the Fitted Interiors tutors, Dean and Simon, after speaking with the tutors Simon decided that he would enrol on the Fitted Interiors course, which has changed his life a great deal.

Simon will admit that he was nervous about attending college and starting a course that he had no previous experience or knowledge of, but was made to feel very welcome and at ease by the Fitted Interiors’ tutors. Tutors Dean and Simon took time to help, teach and support Simon whilst at College.

After coming to terms with the fact he had to stop doing the career he loved, Simon now has the confidence and determination to start a new career and has passed all his exams and has become qualified in Fitted Interiors. With this, Simon is about to set up his own business from the skills learnt at Tameside College.

Simon commented; “Both Dean and Simon are very special to me as they have given me a future to look forward to and I have a life again which I never thought I would have. They have made me believe in myself. I would like to say a very big thank you to both Dean and Simon for everything they have done, giving me, with no future prospects, my life back, not just for me but for my family too.”
