Local firm relies on College

Tameside College is dedicated to supporting local businesses, by helping their employees to gain much needed qualifications. The range of subjects offered by the college helps local industries improve the skills of their workforce.

Two former Tameside College students, who met on the College’s AAT course, decided to challenge the stereotypical male-dominated world of tax and set up their all-female accountancy firm, Mossley Tax Shop. After just two years they have already had lots of success, after starting with 80 clients in May 2011 they are now servicing over 500 clients.

The company still relies on Tameside College for its apprentice recruits due to the service it has received. The College has provided excellent apprentices, which has improved and developed Mossley Tax Shop's team hugely.

The owner, Yvonne Cookson, explains how and why she relies on Tameside College:
"Tameside College helps us to build our workforce through apprenticeships. The candidates are at the right standard plus it’s easy for our apprentices to get to and their AAT tutor is amazing. We are loyal to Tameside College because of the success we've had from it so far."
