College awards students at special ceremony

Each year Tameside College holds an Awards Ceremony to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of students studying Construction, Engineering and Motor Vehicle, with this year being no exception.

Students, along with their families were invited to the Awards Ceremony, which was held at Dukinfield Town Hall. Local employers and sponsors of the awards were also in attendance on the evening.

Deputy Principal of Tameside College, Ellen Thinnesen welcomed everyone with an introductory speech, followed by guest speaker, Managing Director of local firm, AMG Cheshire, Mel Sherwin giving a motivational speech. Both Ellen and Mel presented each award to students who were nominated and chosen to receive the awards.

All awards were sponsored by local Construction, Engineering and Motor Vehicle businesses and the awards ranged from; Student of the Year Award, Personal Achievement Award, Apprentice Award and Certificates for Outstanding Achievement, to name a few.

Motor Vehicle student and winner of the Personal Achievement Award, Alexandra Pickles said; “I am grateful for my award and prizes, I feel like my achievements and hard work have really been noticed and it feels great.”
