Staff join Key 103 at Apprenticeship Event

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, Tameside College joined the Employment and Skills Team from Tameside Council along with Key 103’s Media Bus at Ashton Market over the weekend to attend an Apprenticeship ‘drop in’ event.
Apprenticeship Manager at Tameside College, Christine Quinn said: “We had a terrific afternoon at Ashton Market for the Apprenticeship event we’ve had a lot of interest young people picking up advice leaflets and asking about our vacancies.”
The ‘drop-in’ event aimed to show students the opportunities that are available with an apprenticeship and the benefits of acquiring vital work experience. Students got to speak with a Careers Advisor and get involved in ‘have-a-go’ sessions.”
When interviewed by Key 103’s Paul Hurst, Contract Manager at Tameside College, Jon Hobson said: “Apprenticeships are a great alternative for school leavers as they can earn a wage working in a specific sector they’re interested in, whilst achieving a nationally recognised qualification. We have over 15 vacancies available including, Business Administrator, Data Programmer and Digital Learning Designer so it’s worthwhile checking out our full list of vacancies on the Tameside College website.”
As part of the Greater Manchester Colleges Group (GMCG), Tameside College has also teamed up with fellow local Colleges to launch a new campaign that will help 10 Apprentices in securing their “Dream Job”. Each of the 10 will receive a grant worth £250 to help them pay for travel, clothing and equipment. To enter the competition, all learners have to do is simply tell GMCG in no more than 500 words what their “Dream Job” is and why. Learners can apply online now at: www.gmcg.ac.uk/dreamjob.
