Staff member wins Community Award

Student Services Team Leader at Tameside College, Clare Barber is delighted having recently been awarded the Branch Commanders Excellence Award for Partnership Working at the Greater Manchester Police’s Public Protection Division Excellence Awards.

Clare received the award along with the Phoenix Tameside Child Sexual Exploitation Unit and its partner organisations for their ongoing partnership work protecting young people in the borough against exploitation as well as their work during the Child Sexual Exploitation Week of Action. The partnership work includes, giving young people advice on how to keep themselves and their friend’s safe and providing information to parents and carers so they can spot potential signs of exploitation and creating awareness in the community.

Clare said: “We’re thrilled to have been awarded the Branch Commanders Excellence Award for our partnership and that our work is both recognised and appreciated within the Tameside community. All the Phoenix partners work extremely hard to get the message out about CSE and the support and advice available to those who need it.”
