Former student is a success with his own spa business

Former beauty student from Tameside College, Chris Finch has opened his very own business in Ashton Town Centre. Named after the street it resides on, the Wellington Street Day Spa is a first-class spa providing manicures, pedicures, massages and pamper packages.

After studying several courses at Tameside College including Level 2 Beauty, Level 3 Spa and Level 2 Acrylic Nails as well as winning 2009’s Pride of Tameside Award for Innovation and Enterprise, Chris had his heart set on starting his own business. He said: “Tameside College really gave me the confidence to start my own business; my Tutors have all been really supportive of me even in the years after I left college. I wouldn’t have gone as far as I have without them.”

Chris’s long-term aims are to develop the business into an accredited City & Guilds Training Centre. “I hope to inspire the next generation of beauty professionals and help them take their next steps in the industry with me as their teacher and mentor. I’m so lucky to have the career I have, starting my own shop has been a lot of hard work but so incredibly rewarding.”

Chris’s former Tutor, Anna Hoszowskyj said: “We’re really proud of Chris’s achievements. He has worked really hard to get to where he is today and is a shining example of just how far our students can go if they’re willing to commit to their studies and work hard too.”
