Governors welcome new principal to Tameside College

Governors at Tameside College are delighted to announce the appointment of Jackie Moores as Principal of Tameside College.  Jackie takes up the post on Monday 2 November following the announcement, earlier this year, from Peter Ryder to retire from the role after 6 years’ service. Jackie has a history of success within educational leadership and following over a decade at Salford City College, more recently as Deputy Principal, is delighted and honoured to have been appointed CEO/Principal at Tameside College. Having lived and studied in Greater Manchester all her life, Jackie is proud to be on her home patch and contributing to her local community in Tameside.

Jackie commented: “I am looking forward to working with the College governors, staff and learners and taking the College to the next stage in its journey to provide an outstanding offer to learners, employers and local schools. Tameside College is very successful and boasts some fantastic accommodation and facilities; I am clearly joining a superb establishment.”

John Lyne, Chair of Governors, said: “Jackie is an outstanding appointment. Her experience, determination and leadership skills impressed the interview panel. We are confident Jackie will continue to develop Tameside College and build on our successes. The College plays an enormous role in the regeneration of Tameside and Jackie’s local knowledge will prove to be a big advantage. It is a great time to join Tameside College with the opening of the Clarendon Advanced Learning Centre for our Sixth Form provision and the Advanced Technology Centre nearing completion for our engineering students.”

John Lyne also reflected on Peter Ryder’s impact as Principal: “Peter is an inspirational leader who has raised the profile of Tameside College across the borough and Greater Manchester. Despite the challenges of funding cuts in the further education sector he has built a College that is one of the most admired in the FE sector. He has been instrumental in the redevelopment of the College campus in partnership with Tameside Borough Council. His legacy will be enjoyed by students for years to come”.
