Tameside College inspire student careers at the Big Careers Fair

Tameside College staff and student ambassadors joined the Big Careers Fair this week to inspire school leavers with their wide range of vocational courses and apprenticeships, leading to unlimited career possibilities.

The Big Careers Fair, held at the Manchester Sports Area was attended by schools from across Greater Manchester and gave hundreds of school leavers the opportunity to look into further education courses and potential career paths in a fun and informal way.

But it wasn’t all talk at the careers fair as school leavers had a chance to take part in Tameside College’s “have-a-go” sessions which included, tyre changing and pancake making; giving students an idea of what a day in the life of a mechanic and chef may be like.

Nula Mathers, School Liaison Officer at Tameside College said: “Career fairs like this are great for us as we get to show school leavers what fantastic opportunities are out there for them after completing a course at college. Tameside College has a wide range of vocational courses and apprenticeships so we have a lot to offer young people in Greater Manchester. The activities we have put on for the event also give the students a chance to experience what it would be like to pursue careers in different industries which they may have never thought of before. They have been really hands on and had a great time trying new things.”
