Students go outward bound

Students from Tameside College recently visited adventure park, Winmarleigh Hall for an action packed trip.

25 students from the college’s Pathways department travelled by coach to PGL Winmarleigh Hall in the Forest of Bowland, to take part in three days of outdoor activities. Winmarleigh Hall is a former country mansion that has been converted for adventure holidays.

The students took part in activities that tested their skills and teamwork. They included zip wires, rope swings, open canoeing on the nearby river and even the leap of faith.

The Pathways department gives students with learning difficulties and disabilities the opportunity to develop their confidence and the Winmarleigh Hall trip provided the perfect environment for these adventurers.

Jonathan Mason, Pathways teacher at Tameside College said: “It was an outstanding success and enjoyed by everyone. It provided an opportunity for students to be involved in new activities and create long lasting memories for all of us. I can’t wait to visit Winmarleigh again.”
