Tameside College are silver service trainers of choice

Tameside College are the trainer of choice as the Midland Hotel’s famous, ‘The French’ restaurant prepare to send one of their top waiters to, ‘The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Annual Award of Excellence’.

John Holden, food and hospitality teacher at Tameside College gave silver service training to senior waiter at The French, Dimitar Tanev, which included learning how to serve Chateaubriand with watercress and vegetables in a fine dining setting.

John said: “Tanev has a lot of experience in hospitality but as he is competing in The Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Annual Award of Excellence this year, he wanted to fine tune his silver service and food presentation skills in preparation for the competition. Here at Tameside College, we prepare students to compete for competitions around three times a year so we have the right training facilities and experienced teachers to get students ready. We’ve worked with The French for many years and have former students building their careers there as well as current students on work experience so we’re pleased to support them in any way we can.”

Kamilla Plonska, Restaurant Manager at The French, said: “We have had a long standing relationship with Tameside College, so it is natural to work together to help Tanev in this prestigious award scheme. Tanev is a hard-working and promising member of our team and we are extremely proud for him to be showcasing his talents. We are very happy to be working in conjunction with Tameside College to fine tune his skills.”
