Students give pitch side assistance

Health & Fitness students from Tameside College supported Manchester City FC players and Bolton FC players during three games by providing sports massages.

This opportunity allowed the students to gain the confidence to interact with athletes and apply massage therapy in accordance with the athletes’ needs. They also gained valuable experience in exercise, health and fitness in a sporting venue.

Adam Barnes and Paul Bailey, sports teachers, also provided pitch side first aid for the Manchester City FC and Bolton FC players.

Tameside College has links with various football and sports clubs in Greater Manchester. The College also offer students the chance to uptake football as a study programme with Curzon Ashton FC and Stalybridge Celtic FC as part of football academies.
