Students get Military treatment

Public Services students at Tameside College were given military treatment last week when they were visited by the British Army.

Corporal Ashlee Richardson and Corporal Kial Jones from the Adjutants General Corps along with Cpl Chris Wade (Royal Military Police) were invited into Tameside College as part of the #ICanBe… campaign to provide careers advice to the students about joining the British Army.

The Adjutant General's Corps is responsible for many of its general administrative services including human resources, solving problems and supporting people.

Corporal Ashlee provided careers advice to the students including the starting annual salary, the progression through the phases from being a lance corporal, a corporal and a sergeant.

Ashlee said: “The British Army are the biggest provider of apprenticeships and the annual starting salary for an apprentice is £14,783.64."  She also went to tell the students about the range of enrichment activities that they could take part in if they join the British Army, including: football, basketball and volleyball, to name a few.

Cpl Chris Wade, one of our local army recruiters also provided the students with information about becoming a member of the Military Police.

The visit is part of a series of activities at Tameside College #ICanBe campaign that to inform students of potential careers and opportunities.
