Photography students focus on the beach

Photography students from Clarendon Sixth Form College enjoyed a field trip to Formby beach in Liverpool after being assigned a location project as part of their level 3 course.

Students were assigned to do a large format film photography exercise from one of a series of location workshops, which also includes street photography, architectural photography and landscape photography in various locations around Lancashire.

Students experimented with different angles, position, light and movement, as they photographed various aspects of the beach such as the breaking waves, sand dunes and wildlife.

Kevin Linnane, photography teacher at Clarendon Sixth Form College, said: “Over the years, field trips like this to Formby beach have become an important educational experience that boosts students’ abilities and confidence as they work away from the classroom in a real world scenario. The students had a great day testing out different techniques they have learned in class.”
