Anthony Seddon Fund benefit from work experience

Students from Tameside College’s Insight Centre have started a new project, helping Ashton based charity, The Anthony Seddon Fund.

The Anthony Seddon Fund raises awareness of mental health and supports local mental health services. Students at Tameside College have been given the opportunity to carry out work experience, providing general construction duties along with plastering, painting and decorating and cleaning one of their support centres.

30 students spent their time at the charity to support the project and make a difference. Donna Thomas, founder and trustee of The Anthony Seddon Fund, commented: “Our mental health charity has benefited enormously from the enthusiasm and input the young people from Insight have brought to our projects. We are delighted to continue this working relationship for the foreseeable future.”

Nathan Lynch, Insight student, said: “We are at the Anthony Seddon fund because we are helping them do the basement up. They are thinking about putting a music room there with sound proof walls and a dry bar. I worked with my class group from college. We cleaned the support beams and the brick walls so we can put wood and brick treatment on them and swept the floors to get rid of the rubbish off the beams and walls. It is a great way to give back to the community and get involved in work experience.”
