Students excel in culinary competition

Food Studies students at Tameside College took home top prizes from the Welsh International Culinary Championships for their cook and serve, table lay-up and fruit and vegetable cuts as well as many other categories.

Held every February, the Welsh International Culinary Championships is a celebration of the nation’s culinary skills and rich variety of quality food. The popular competition is packed with exciting competitions for learners to test their food preparation, presentation and service.

Teachers were thrilled with the performance of students as they came away with: two silver medals, twelve bronze medals and four merit awards.

John Holden, food studies teacher at Tameside College, said: “The students were under immense pressure in this competition and have achieved these fantastic awards through sheer hard work. The medal haul was amazing and the students have really enjoyed the experience. They’ve made Tameside College so proud.”
