Apprentice is cut above the rest

Alison Bell, a level three hairdressing apprentice at Tameside College, has won Junior Stylist of the Year at the English Hair and Beauty Awards 2017.

The awards, which took place at the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, celebrated the industry’s best and brightest talent and included eight finalists in Alison’s category. The nominees for each were selected by the public from thousands of other professionals.

Alison is currently employed at The Hepburn Hair Project on Oxford Road in Manchester city centre and has progressed from level two to level three to become one of their top stylists.

Alison, said: “I am so pleased to have won! I have worked hard to get here so to actually win is amazing. The college and salon have both been great in helping me to develop my professional skills. Thank you to everyone that nominated me.”

Janine Davey, hairdressing teacher at Tameside College, said: “She has worked incredibly hard. Alison is committed and fully deserves her award. She has started her level three course ahead of schedule and will continue to go from strength to strength. This competition has been a fantastic opportunity which shows her high level of skill and commitment as one of the best in the region.”
