Students enjoy 'wild' exotic animal visit

Aspirations students at Tameside College were treated to a visit by educational exotic animal company Safari Phil, to learn about and how to handle some unusual species of snakes, insects, mammals and more during their after college club.

The company brought along a wide range of animals including: royal pythons, tortoises, leopard geckos and ferrets for the students to hold and learn about. The visit was aimed at helping the students expand their knowledge of the animal kingdom, giving them a fun experience and help build their confidence.

Tracey Barton-Mcclean, Curriculum Leader for Aspirations, said: “The students really enjoyed meeting some of the animals, especially the snake. It’s something different for them and they certainly had to be very brave to hold some of the larger ones. Overall it was a great experience for all.”

The Aspirations department is purpose-built for students with learning difficulties and disabilities and is specially adapted to help learners progress. For more information on their courses or facilities call 0161 908 6789 or visit http://www.tameside.ac.uk/
