Staff member cycles for charity

Tameside College employee, George Dalton recently completed the arduous 62 mile Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride in aid of The Christie Hospital.

The Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride is The Christie’s largest cycling event and is attended by over 7,000 cyclists each year.  George cycled from the Imperial War Museum North in Salford and five and a half hours later he finished on the South Promenade in Blackpool.

George raised over £140 for the charity, which will go towards helping fund research into curing cancer and treatments for cancer patients.

George, said: “It was great fun to do the ride. Even though it was really difficult it is all worth it for the good cause that affects so many lives. I am pleased with my time of five hours thirty minutes. I would urge more people to get involved next year and continue to support local charities.”
