Staff take on 5km for good cause

Staff members from Tameside College completed the 5km Big Fun Run, Manchester in Heaton Park this weekend, in aid of charity, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).

16 teachers and support staff from the college completed the arduous run in aid of CALM, which is a charity that is dedicated to preventing male suicide through support groups and challenging stereotypes.

So far the team have raised over £300 with the hope of raising even more in the future.

Jackie Moores, Principal at Tameside College, who took part in the run, said: “It was all great fun and everyone really enjoyed themselves. We chose CALM because they are trying to solve a major problem in society. Hopefully the money we have raised will help.”

Lyn Renn, Safeguarding officer at Tameside College, who also took part, said: “It was a challenge but it was worth it to raise money for CALM and we all got dressed up to do it in style. The team did so well overall and have put so much effort into their training. Well done Team Tameside!”
