Life coach inspires Career Ready students

Rick Cropper, a happiness and life coach inspired accounting students who are taking part in the Career Ready programme at Tameside College with a masterclass in communications and networking.

Rick delivered a presentation to the students which covered topics such as: body language, barriers to effective communication, confidence in yourself, building a network that helps you and impressing with a ‘pitch’.

The students were then asked to practise small changes in their body language and the way they communicate with others to help them when they go into an interview. Elevator pitching was also a key topic, with Rick showing the students how to write a speech that would impress an interviewer or client in less than thirty seconds.

Rick visited the college as the second guest as part of the Career Ready programme. Career Ready is a six month series of workshops and masterclasses to help students gain employment for the future.

A happiness and life coach is someone that aims to help and empower others to meet and exceed their personal goals in life whether that is in the workplace, at home or hobbies.

Kyle Spinks, GM Higher Adviser, said: “The masterclass with Rick will hopefully really help the students with their confidence and career skills. Career Ready is giving them experience that they just wouldn’t get in a classroom so it’s amazing to be able to do that for them.”
