Hackathon challenges young coders

Tameside Hack has announced this year’s exciting challenges for participants taking part on the 20th and 21st February.
The Hack, a coding competition for 12 to 18-year-olds, provides an opportunity for young people to develop their skills in a digital project environment.
It is one of the ways Tameside Council has been fulfilling its “Every Child a Coder” pledge in addition to supporting the Code Club initiative and the monthly Tameside Coder Dojo.
Teams develop and display their skills to design websites, apps, games, programs and innovative and potentially lucrative solutions to real-world digital problems.
Headline sponsor Willmott Dixon is challenging competitors to help solve the construction waste problem using cutting-edge digital processes. Further challenges have been set by a range of sponsors that include: Brother, Avecto Code Nation, Manchester Digital and Purple.
The event has been developed in partnership with Tameside Council and Tameside College and will be hosted at the college’s Advanced Technologies Centre.
