Work experience for students is ‘top priority’

Jackie Moores, principal of Tameside College, introduced the college’s work experience programme to employers at an event this week.

Greater Manchester Fire Service, Brother UK, the Royal British Legion and a host of other companies and organisations visited the college’s Reflections restaurant to find out about the benefits of offering work placements to students.

Zac Wolfe, a former student at the college and current head waiter at The French restaurant, spoke about his work experience and how it lead to him gaining full time employment with the company.

Gail Clifford, work experience manager at Tameside College, said: “Work experience is extremely important for students and is a top priority. Learning from mistakes and taking a hands on approach is something that can’t be done in the classroom alone. It also benefits an employer by giving them potential employees for the future. I look forward to working with all these fantastic companies and organisations in providing excellent placements for our students.”
