Higher Education boosts students' careers

Tameside College offers a wide range of higher level and professional courses which have been developed to meet skill gaps identified in Greater Manchester’s economy.  Many of the degrees are delivered in partnership with Chester University and Huddersfield University.

Offering excellent facilities and small class sizes, Tameside College provides a variety of different programmes available in sectors such as teacher education, art and design, engineering, health and social, business, accounting, computing, sport and public services.

Martin Ablott completed the HND in Computing and Systems Development in June 2017 and is now looking to do a top-up degree.  Martin said about the course: “The best part of studying at Tameside College was learning new skills and the brilliant learning environment.  The teachers were amazing and would always offer help and support when needed.  I would recommend anyone looking at studying HE to come to Tameside College”.

Melissa Arnaoutis studied the Certificate of Education with Tameside College and commented “For those looking to get into teaching, then I would definitely recommend this course.  The teacher was fantastic and extremely helpful, and the college is such a relaxed and friendly environment to work in.  My next steps now are to go into teaching, being a lecturer in hairdressing.”

Jackie Moores, Tameside College Principal, praised these graduates on their success: “It is a celebration of their dedication, determination and enthusiasm.  As a place of learning it is satisfying for Tameside College to watch how the transfer of knowledge has helped them grow in confidence, ability and ambition.”

In 2015, there were over 2 million students studying at UK higher education providers.  Participation in higher education is growing and expanding, with a 38% increase in applications since 2006 and a 42% increase in students from disadvantaged areas studying full time degrees since 2005.
