Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services

Course Content

The BTEC Extended Diploma in Public Services is a two year course designed for young people who have an interest in working in the Uniformed Public Services or further study in the Public Sector. This course will be taught with a good mix of theoretical and practical tasks. The course is delivered by experienced Uniformed Public Service personnel who commit first-hand experience to delivering current and up to date information. Numerous employer links are made available throughout. Student visits such as Fire & Rescue, Maritime, Police Community & Safety Awareness, Army Exhibitions and guest speakers are also a large component of this programme.

Students will also be given the opportunity to complete the’ HABC Stewarding’ and/or ‘SIA Level 2 Security’ based qualifications alongside this course – ensuring you are employment ready!

Special Features

Work Experience visits form part of this programme. As part of preparing learners for employment we require all our learners to wear a college kit that can be purchased at the start of the course. More information will be given on interview.

Entry Qualifications

Learners are required to have 5 GCSEs at grade A-C including Maths & English and will also be required to undertake a pre-course interview and assessment day. Candidates will be expected to be enthusiastic about embarking on a career in the Uniformed Public Services.


This qualification provides knowledge and practical skills related to Level 3.

On completion of this qualification candidates may progress on to Higher Education and the HND in Public Services.
