This course is designed to introduce students to the world of creative and practical media work. You will complete the units through a number of hands on projects including animation, music video, documentary and advertising. You will learn to script, shoot and edit video and create page layout using the latest digital media technology.
Each unit will require research skills, planning and practical hands on media production. You’ll develop writing skills alongside your creative technical skills, like camera work and computer based editing. The course encourages creative ideas which you will develop into real video or print design pieces.
All 7 units are internally assessed through folders of planning work, final videos/print layouts and written evaluations. As there are no final exams, you need to work hard all year round on tasks.
For entry onto this course, you are required to have at least 4 GCSEs at grade D or above including grade D or above in English.
You will need to achieve a Merit grade overall to progress to a BTEC Level 3 Exteneded Diploma/Diploma/Subsidiary Diploma/Certificate in Media Production.
