Your Unique Experience

An Individual Learning Plan will be designed for your needs

You will be assigned a Personal Tutor and a Progress Tutor who specifically look after your pastoral and course requirements

You will work with the latest industry tooling as used by Electrical Installation specialists including Megger, Hitachi, Dewalt & MICC.

On your course you will experience Industry talks, Industry visits and compete in various Skills Competitions

You will be encouraged to complete a C.V. and apply for Tameside College Apprenticeships within your chosen specialism and gain valuable work skills from work-experience placements.

Course Content

This programme is the first step to gaining a qualification in the Construction Industry, specifically in the role of Electrician

Electrical Installations Technology

Installation of wiring systems and enclosures

Tameside College has recently invested in a wide range of tooling and specialist work areas that reflect the workplace.

Being an Electrician is an exciting and challenging career. The course will combine core skills such as communication, organisation, planning as well as practical skills. The course will give you the knowledge and skills to progress into Industry or a higher level of course.

Course Format

Assessment is ongoing throughout the duration of the course. We’ll ask you to complete practical assessments and written tests for up to 5 units.

An online job-knowledge assessment will be taken during the year alongside an online health & safety test which will be required to achieve the full qualification.

You will work in realistic construction environments using the most up to date industry tooling.

Entry Qualifications

Learners must have;

GCSE C or 4-9 in Maths

4 GCSE’s grade D – G 0r 1 -3 (Must include English and maths)

Successful interview with an Electrical Installation tutor

A genuine interest in the subject

Good communication skills

A hardworking approach towards the industry
