Course Content

This course is an extension of the professional standards in cake decoration, it is expected that learners have achieved Cake Decoration Award Level 1. The course covers three main units of studying comprising of Royal Icing with the main emphasis on run-out sugar work. Sugar Paste work, how to decorate and stack a two tier cake and finally modelling techniques for cake decoration incorporating 2D and 3D modelling with pastillage and modelling pastes.

Cake Decoration is very creative, you will amaze your family, friends and customers with the skills you will learn from Cupcakes to Wedding Cakes. Your skills will be endless.

The programme will focus on giving you the skills to decorate a full range of products suitable for every occasion. Starting with the basic skills you will learn how to professionally design, decorate and develop your skills in Cake Decoration.

Special Features

A high standard of professional practice is carried out at all times and learners work is of a very high standard, suitable for exhibitions. Each learner will have a workbook with a selection of ideas and information to help you through the course.

Entry Qualifications

Level 1 Award in Cake Decoration and/or prior knowledge and a genuine interest in Cake Decoration. All learners on this programme require own specialist equipment or cake decoration and design which includes A3 art paper and suitable folder. You will also be required to purchase cake dummies and boxes and boards on which to submit your exhibition pieces.

After successful completion of Level 2, you have a number of options available to you, these include-

If you are aged 19 or over, meet the unemployed criteria and already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, tuition fees will be waived. If you are aged 19 or over and don’t meet the unemployed criteria, and already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, tuition fees are payable. If you are aged 19-23 and do not already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, full fees are payable. If you are aged 24 or over, meet the unemployed criteria and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, tuition fees will be waived. If you are aged 24 or over, don’t meet the unemployed criteria and don’t already hold a qualification equivalent to 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, tuition fees are payable.
