Diploma in Beauty Therapy - Part Time, Adult, Level 2 (City and Guilds)

Your Unique Experience

Practical beauty therapy lessons take place alongside commercial salon sessions and theory lessons. Practical lessons include working on live paying clients. You can take part in trips, visits, seminars and competitions alongside your lessons to ensure you have a good understanding of the industry in which you will work.

Learners are expected to undertake work experience in a salon setting. Gaining part time employment in a salon will greatly enhance your skills and aid employability and progression opportunities.

An Individual Learning Plan (ILP) will be designed with you, to meet your needs. Targets will be set to enable your progress and achievement.

You will be assigned a Personal Tutor who specifically looks after your pastoral and progress requirements throughout the course

You will be trained in the use of specialist, professional products, equipment and treatments.

Course Content

The course includes units as follows:

Manicure and Pedicure

Makeup

Waxing

Facial including Lash and Brow

Reception and Health and Safety.

There are many additional opportunities as part of this course. You will be expected to take part in work experience, and also have the opportunity to represent the college as you can enter a range of regional and national competitions, such as Greater Manchester Colleges’ Competitions. During your time on this programme, you will can take part in external study visits, for example to Professional Beauty North, to observe professionals within the industry and taking part in bespoke one day demonstrations on the latest trends and fashions in the industry.

This course is assessed through a mixture of practical assessments, written tests and exams.

3 hours home study per week is recommended and full attendance is required.

More than just a Course

Beauty Therapy offers an exciting and challenging career in a fast paced industry. This part time course, running one afternoon and evening or one day per week will develop your core employability skills such as communication and retail alongside specialist practical beauty skills. It will give you the knowledge and practical skills to progress to a course at level 3 in Beauty Therapy, Media Hair Styling & Make Up or Nails. Alternatively you could progress to an Apprenticeship.

Course Format

This is a part time course, running 1 day per week for 34 weeks or one afternoon and evening per week for 34 weeks.
