An Individual Learning Plan will be designed for your needs

Assigned a Personal Tutor and a Progress Tutor who specifically look after your pastoral and course requirements

Bespoke Hairdressing will be put in place for styling, cutting and colouring

Course includes talks, seminars and competitions from our Francesco Hair Group partners

Also includes the opportunity to gain extra work experience throughout the year in our Academy salon, which could lead to employment when on Level 3

Course Content

There are 3 pathways for this programme, depending on qualifications and the skills of the student:

City and Guilds VRQ Level 2 Hairdressing (Certificate)

City and Guilds VRQ Level 2 Hairdressing (Diploma)

City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing

This programme will prepare you with the skills and knowledge in the following hairdressing services:

Customer care

Consultation skills

Shampooing and conditioning hair

Cutting hair

Blow drying / styling hair

Long hair work

Colouring / highlighting techniques

Perming

Health and safety

The programme provides the basic skills, understanding and knowledge to embark on a career in the hairdressing industry. There are several course opportunities during this programme. You have the chance to complete work experience in our academy salons, and also have the opportunity to enter a range of regional and national competitions, such as Wella and Francesco competitions. During your time on this programme, you will also take part in external visits, such as The Wella Studios in Manchester to observe celebrity hairdressers and take part in bespoke one day demonstrations on the latest trends and fashions in the industry. We will also visit Winter Gardens in Blackpool for the annual AHT competitions and possibly a chance to visit the Francesco Hair Group salons in Stafford.

Hairdressing is an exciting and challenging career. The course will combine core skills such as communication and retail, as well as practical skills. The course will give you the knowledge and skills to move forward into industry or Higher Education.

Entry Qualifications

Learners must have;

City and Guilds VRQ Level 1 Hairdressing or 4 GCSE’s grade D or above (one of which must include English)

Successful interview with a Hairdressing tutor

A genuine interest in the subject

Good communication skills

A hardworking approach towards the industry

City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy

City and Guilds VRQ Level 3 Hairdressing (pending on skills)

City and Guilds VRQ Level 3 Hair and Media Make Up

Working as a junior stylist within a salon environment
