Course Content

The course covers the following units:

Advanced Bookkeeping

Final Accounts Preparation

Management Accounting: Costing

Indirect Tax

Ethics for Accountants

Introduction to Payroll

Spreadsheets for Accounting

You will sit an exam for each of the first 4 units and a Synoptic exam that covers all the units; you must pass all the exams to gain the qualification. You will learn through a variety of methods which will aim to meet the needs of each individual and accommodate different learning styles for example, case studies, assessments, group work, practical work, projects and interactive activities.

More than just a Course

It is a work-related qualification which will develop all aspects of manual accounting, including double entry bookkeeping adjustments, financial records and preparing both cost accounts and financial accounts. The course will cover the construction, closure and transfer of account balances, production of final accounts and the VAT system. It also uses spreadsheets in an accounting context and discusses the importance of professional ethics to the accounting world.

Special Features

You will learn through a range of methods including practical work, simulations, case studies and group work. You will be required to regularly consolidate your College work with self-directed learning at home. You will need reliable access to the internet in order to utilise a range of resources.

Fees include one year’s AAT membership and 6 exams entry fees but exclude textbooks (approx. £72)

Entry Qualifications

Learners must have;

AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting or equivalent

A genuine interest in the subject

Fees:
£1987 (May qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan)

If you are aged between 19-23 and you don’t have a qualification equivalent to 2 A-Levels, tuition fees may be waived. If aged 19 or over and do have a qualification equivalent to 2 A-Levels at the start of the course you may be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan.
